Probably the most popular form of advertising on the internet is advertising banners.
The term banner advertising, after all, isn't a new vocabulary on the Internet. Love them or hate them, banner ads are one of the dominant forms of advertising online. Due to the widespread acceptance of the standard 468x60 banner ad size, buyers can easily secure placements at most sites, and publishers can accept ads from most advertisers.
The term banner views or impressions refers to the number of times a banner has been viewed. Almost the same as "page views," but some banner server programs don't count the banner view unless the visitor stays on the page long enough for the banner to be fully downloaded from the banner server.
In terms of types of advertising banners, there are two major types, dynamically-rotated banners and static banners. The dynamically-rotated banners might change for each user, based on the specifications. On the other hand, the static banners stay the same to every user, every page load and they do not change.
According to the lastest statistics, a great many companies, large and small, still use banner ads as part of their advertising mix and will continue to do so. Nevertheless, advertisers are becoming more sophisticated about when and how to use banner ads.
